Laura Whiting, PA
Laura is delighted to join Healthy Connections. She first heard Dr. Horacek speak in 2018, and was truly inspired by the potential of Functional Medicine to optimize patients’ health. Since that time she has taken courses in functional medicine and is working towards her certification through the Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM). She has also dramatically improved her health with treating her leaky gut and managing food intolerances.
Laura hails from Michigan, where she completed a degree in Mechanical Engineering (Go Blue!), and worked in the pacemaker industry before applying to PA school. She graduated from PA school at OHSU in 2007 and worked in family medicine at Mid Columbia Medical Center. For the last 12 years Laura worked in cardiology at Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital, where she led the Heart to Start program, aimed at helping people train for a 5K walk/run. Laura believes that taking the time to connect with patients is paramount to excellent health care, and cherishes these partnerships with patients. As she joins Healthy Connections, Laura looks forward to leveraging her primary care and cardiology backgrounds to treat people with chronic diseases, hormone imbalances, and those who want to remain well.
Laura and her husband, Brad, live in Hood River with their daughters, ages 6 and 11, and their new puppy. When not cheering her kids on with various activities, she enjoys many of the gorge outdoor activities; travel, gardening, and aerial silks.
